BIM is now considered the most definitive piece of technology for managing building design and construction, for achieving everything from greater efficiency through to building performance and sustainability outcomes. Building sustainability is alive and well. Fortunately, the industry is not alone is driving this transformation. The re-elected federal government is throwing its weight behind the notions of sustainable efforts, and architects and builders are pushing for government support in developing a prominent position in developing a standard approach to BIM implementation in Australia.  As with any industry sustainability and being environmentally friendly are necessities in today’s day and age.

EXP 2 - Arch1101 - Final Submission

Design Concepts:

Frei Otto-

  • Creating Shelters with a small amount of materials
  • Design Embodies the pros of structure complementing the poetry of form
  • Nature has ready designs
  • Empty spaces are non-essential to the structure
  • The core and the exterior to perform as one

Alisa Andresek-

  • Use of attraction and repulsion to create dynamic forms
  • The ground is a network of nested-systems that can breed with one another
  • No definitive boundary between shapes creates fluidity
  • The relationship between the repetitious and perpetual form creates an intricate sequence
  • Network of patterns creates homogeneous form

The main ideas I have based this monument on are, Empty spaces not been essential to the structure (Frei Otto), and the use of attraction and repulsion to create dynamic forms (Alisa Andresek).

The colour scheme and texturing was designed to blend in with the surrounding environment. Frei Otto's designs are very environmentally orientated. You can see forms of nature within his monuments. My idea was to blend the monument into the landscape.

This monument demonstrates the use of attraction and repulsion to create dynamic forms similarly to Alisa Andresek. The two long rods piercing the hollow circular objects are like magnets which are repelling the hollow objects from touching.
